Top rated contender VICTOR “MERMELADA” CAYO, fresh off his 3rd round demolition of undefeated countrymen JULIO REYES is now ready to challenge for the WBA title. Cayo 25-0 (16 KO’s) easily destroyed Reyes (14-1, 8 KO’s) in the 3rd round at the Coliseo Carlos Teo Cruz in Santo Domingo Monday night, enhancing his status as the highest rated Junior Welterweight contender in the WBA. His target, Marcos Maidana from Argentina, who won the WBA Interim Title by beating Victor Ortiz on June 27, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California..

Said Cayo, “Maidana can run but he can’t hide. Hopefully the WBA will force him to fight me so I can bring the Title home to the Dominican Republic where it belongs and where it will stay.”

Co-Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing said “Amir Khan will not fight Maidana, and will give up his title making this fight between Maidana and Cayo mandatory. Every time he fights I am more and more amazed at how good he is. I really believe he is something special and when he is Champion, he will remain Champion for a very long time.”

At 23 years of age, Victor Cayo has already beaten a list of talented fighters during his quick assertion to the pinnacle of the WBA World rankings. In his previous bout as the main event of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights, Cayo demonstrated to an International Television audience, just how far he has come, by dismantling the former World Champion Julio Diaz, and wining a 10 round unanimous decision on May 31 at the Hardrock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida.

Moreno Receives Special Award From WBC WBC CARES CHRISTMAS EVENT

December 22, 2009 – Women’s boxing champion, Carina “La Reina” Moreno, received a special award from the WBC at their WBC Cares Christmas Toy Drive event ,which took place this past Sunday in Los Angeles.

World champion Israel Vazquez and famed trainer Freddie Roach, plus a number of other boxing icons joined Moreno in the festivities.

“Anytime you can be part of an extraordinary event like this is special,” said Moreno. “It’s the Christmas spirit and I’m glad to be giving back to those who are less fortunate. To be here with all these great people in boxing is something I can take with me for ever. I want to thank Dr. Noriega and the WBC for inviting me.”

Comanche Boy Rings in 2010!

Middleweight prospect “Comanche Boy” George Tahdooahnippah will ring in 2010 on January 28 in Oklahoma City at the Coca Cola Center in Bricktown. Tahdooahnippah, 21-0-1 (18 KO) will be the main event at the 2010 Oklahoma City Fight Night. OKC Fight Night is a charity event benefiting the Oklahoma City PAL and hosted by former heavyweight champion James “Buster” Douglas. “I’m honored to be the main event for such a great evening,” Tahdooahnippah said. “This night is the first fight for 2010 and I promise a lot of excitement throughout the year.”

Other fighters on the card are world rated junior middleweight prospect Carson Jones 24-7-1 and Oklahoma City fan favorite light heavyweight Tracy Sneed 24-2. CHICAGO, IL (December 21, 2009) Longtime Chicago boxing promoter Dominic Pesoli and his wife Tina welcomed their first child, Dominic Vito, on Sunday night, December 20th. The baby boy weighing in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces, 22 inches long was born at 10:35pm. Both the baby and mother are doing very well.

Along with 8 Count Productions, Dominic and Tina are co-owners of JABB Boxing Gym in Chicago .
