HuckOla Afolabi (14-1, 6 KOs) believes that Marco Huck is “lucky“ to be the world champion these days. The two cruiserweights clash for Captain Huck´s WBO Title in Ludwigsburg on Saturday night. Afolabi is determined to finally “get what I deserve”. He said at today´s press conference: “There is just one reason why Marco Huck is the world champion instead of me. He was lucky to get the chance to fight Victor Emilio Ramirez on August 29. I would have been ready, too. I had worked really hard. I did six weeks of sparring with Vitali Klitschko in America and made him look really bad. On Saturday I will win Huck´s title for sure.”

Needless to say, the 25-year-old champion (26-1, 20 KOs) has different plans. “I have no doubts that I will defend my title,” Huck said. “Winning the title has really changed my life. It put my life into the focus of the public and many, many boxing fans. But I have not changed as a person. I keep working hard, with my coach Ulli Wegner being very strict in practice. I am 100 percent ready for the clash, both mentally and physically. It will be a great fight against Afolabi.”

Wegner stated he was pleased with Huck´s development. “He has matured as a human being and as a boxer,” said the coach. “The victory over Ramirez showed that. We know we have a tough challenge coming up against Afolabi but Marco has learned a lot and he will definitely leave the ring as the winner.”

Also in action will be IBF Youth Middleweight Champion Dominik Britsch (16-0, 5 KOs). “I am excited to fight just 25 miles away from my home city,” the youngster said. “I want to please my home fans and put on a great show. Cleber Argente Alves will be in for a hot battle.”
