News: Fight Night Club on Aug 27; 4 fights on “Undefeated Champions” Sept 12th PPV

Southern California’s hottest new boxing series is back with the third installment of Golden Boy Promotions’ “Fight Night Club” as California locals pack an exciting undercard at L.A. LIVE’s Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 27th. “Fight Night Club” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and AEG and is sponsored by Quaker State, EA Sports’ Fight Night Round 4 and Vitamin Water. The series will return to Club Nokia on September 24th. Televised bouts will air live on VERSUS and will be streamed live on RingTV.com and Yahoo! Boxing beginning at 6:00pm PT/9:00pm ET. In the main event of “Fight Night Club”, top bantamweight contender and 2004 Olympian Abner Mares (18-0, 11 KO’s) of Montebello, California and native of Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico battles Santo Domingo’s Carlos Fulgencio (11-3-1, 7 KO’s) in an eight round fight, while the co-featured bout of the evening sees Oxnard’s David Rodela (13-1-3, 6 KO’s) facing once-beaten Bayamon, Puerto Rico native Gamalier Rodriguez (8-1-2, 4 KO’s) in a six round junior lightweight bout.

Also in action on the August 27th VERSUS broadcast and webcast will be a matchup between flyweights Sergio Espinoza (16-5-1, 5 KO’s) of San Diego, California and David Gaspar (10-2-1, 7 KO’s) of Torrance, California, who will compete in a four or six round bout. 22-year-old Ricky Lopez (5-0, 2 KO’s) of Oxnard, California is off to a fast start in his professional career and he’s already built a following at Club Nokia, where he defeated Rufino Serrano and Eder Peralta respectively in his last two bouts. He’ll be attempting to make it three in a row when he takes on Ecuador native John Wampash (1-1-1, 1 KO) in a four round featherweight bout to open the televised show.

Former National Amateur Champion Carlos Molina (8-0, 4 KO’s) has already achieved a lot in the fight game at the young age of 20, but the Commerce, California native has only scratched the surface on his amazing talent in the ring. Unbeaten in eight professional fights, Molina is coming off a fourth round TKO of Ever Luis Perez in his last bout at Club Nokia on July 30th. However, looking to spoil his perfect record is Kansas City’s Antony Nelson (7-10-1, 7 KO’s), a hard-hitting battler who is coming off a second round stoppage of Cody Bell on July 3rd. Molina and Nelson will meet in a four/six round junior welterweight televised swing bout.

Opening the night of boxing will be debuting junior welterweight Juan Heraldez of Las Vegas, who will face Los Angeles’ Luis Tapia (1-2) in a four rounder.

FOUR FIGHTS ON “UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONS” PPV SEPTEMBER 12 IN PUERTO RICO

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (August 26, 2009) — Four exciting, entertaining fights will be showcased on the “Undefeated Champions” pay per view show, presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions, September 12th at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot, featuring world champions Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon and Roman “Rocky” Martinez in title defenses.

Promoter Ivan Rivera, president of PR Best Boxing Promotions, announced that Dominican Juan Mercedes has been added to the PPV card.

Mercedes (23-2, 16KO’s) will face Mexican Jesus Martinez (18-6, 6KO’s) in a 10 round bout at 115 pounds, while Olympian Carlos Negron (4-0, 4KO’s) will fight Larry Carter (3-4-1, 3KO’s) in a 6-round fight at 186 pounds. These two fights will start the PPV broadcast.

The other two PPV fights will be WBO junior flyweight defense of champion Calderon (32-0-1 6KO’s) against Rodel Mayol (25-3-1, 19 KO’s) in a rematch, as well as Roman “Rocky” Martinez (22-0-1, 13 KO’s) defending his WBO junior middleweight title versus Argentinean Vicente Martin Rodriguez (25-2, 13 KO’s).

“Undefeated Champions” PPV card is being distributed in the United States by Integrated Sports for live viewing at 9 PM/ET – 6 PM/PT on cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand and DirecTV for a suggested retail price of only $29.95.
