Universum Protests Sidorenko-Moreno decision

Universum Box-Promotion has protested Wladimir Sidorenko’s decision loss to Anselmo Moreno on Saturday night in Düsseldorf, Germany. “To us, Wladimir Sidorenko didn’t lose this fight,” said manager Dietmar Poszwa. “Therefore we have filed a protest with the WBA. We want a direct rematch, Sidorenko should become the #1 in the world rankings..”

Sidorenko’s trainer Michael Timm was also up in arms. “Today they took away a clear victory from Wladimir. I am disappointed by the judges. They didn’t want to see Sidorenko’s punches. They even took the tenth and twelfth rounds from him. I hope there is a rematch. Then we’ll see who the true world champion is.”

Moreno, however, wasn’t haing any of that. “I clearly won the fight,” he stated. “As for a rematch, I’m glad to make myself available anytime.”

A disappointed Sidorenko commented, “Moreno was a very good opponent, very experienced. For me, I thought it should have been a draw. I’d be very happy to get a rematch.”

Unbeaten WIBF/WBA featherweight champion Ina Menzer was over the moon about her impressive KO performance against Stacey Reile.

“Every boxer wishes for a KO,” commented Ina Menzer. “There’s no better way to finish a fight. This is a very nice feeling. She was open to the belly. I faked the left underneath then connected with the right over the top. That’s all I needed to do as this worked very well. It’s naturally a special victory. With a KO there are no more questions. Not every woman can deliver such a fight. KOs by women aren’t that common.”

Menzer’s trainer Michael Timm added, “It made Ina crazy because she couldn’t see any video of her opponent, only a few clips on the Internet. But things went so well, maybe next time she’ll see no video. Ina was brilliant!”

Dietmar Poszwa commented, “Ina had a sensational performance. She dominated all four rounds long and had a wonderful finish. It was very dynamic. In her last fight, when Ina got the nickname ‘Blood Ina,’ she proved her will and fighter’s heart. Today she showed other facets.”

Stacey Reile attributed her performance to inactivity. “I was inactive too long,” she stated. “Only one fight in one year . I probably underestimated this break. Ina is a strong, very good fighter.”
