David Tua, Castillo headline Gotham Boxing card this Wednesday

New York, July 25—A pair of title fights, as well as David Tua’s New York return, will head the bill when Cedric Kushner’s Gotham Boxing presents a star-studded fight card on Wednesday night, July 26, at the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center in the Big Apple. The boxers kicked off fight week with an autograph session at Modell’s at 42nd Street courtesy of Everlast, and then enjoyed a halibut seafood lunch at the historic Grand Central Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station..

In the first championship, Cuban star Eliseo Castillo (20-1-1, 15 KO’s) steps into the ring against Emanuel Steward’s unbeaten contender Johnathon Banks (11-0, 8 KO’s) of Detroit, Michigan in a bout for the NABO Cruiserweight Championship.

In the co-feature, amateur standout “Mean” Joe Greene (10-0, 7 KO’s) of Brooklyn, NY, and will fight Damone Wright (17-25-2, 6 KO’s) of Omaha, Nebraska for the vacant WBC Youth Middleweight championship in an eight round affair.

Gotham Boxing’ ten bout card at the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center will also feature heavyweight contender David Tua (44-3-1, 38 KO’s), making his first New York appearance in close to ten years. The hard punching Tua will battle Oak Lawn, Illinois native Edward Gutierrez (15-2, 6 KO’s).

ESPN2’s “Wednesday Night Fights” will televise the show live.

The exciting show will also feature three local favorites: unbeaten Brooklyn rising star, Cindy Serrano (12-0-1, 7 KO’s) battles Tawnya Freeman (7-2, 3 KO’s) of Ft. Smith, AR in a six round junior lightweight contest; Bronx native and star amateur, Jorge Teron (10-0-1, 8 KO’s) faces Armando Cordoba (21-25-2, 16 KO’s); and hard-hitting middleweight Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (5-0, 4 KO’s) tangles with William Prieto (2-0) of Ohio; all put their unbeaten streaks on the line.
