Fury dismisses Joshua’s upcoming opponent with a one-line response as talks continue for a future heavyweight showdown

Tyson Fury has taken a swipe at Anthony Joshua’s next opponent, dismissing Kristian Prenga with a sarcastic one-line remark ahead of Joshua’s July 25 return in Jeddah. The comments come as Fury and Joshua continue moving toward a potential heavyweight showdown later this year.

“I think he’s a doorman, isn’t he?” Fury said when speaking to Pro Boxing Fans about Joshua’s tune-up opponent, Prenga.

Meanwhile, Fury has been linked to a possible interim fight against Nelson Hysa before a potential showdown with Joshua.

Joshua (31-4, 28 KOs) is returning for the first time since stopping Jake Paul in six rounds last December. The former two-time heavyweight champion will take on Prenga (18-2, 14 KOs) in what is widely viewed as a stay-busy fight before a potential showdown with Fury.

The long-discussed Fury-Joshua matchup remains one of the biggest fights available in boxing. Turki Alalshikh said on June 21 that no decision has been made regarding the date or location, but both heavyweights are expected to remain active while negotiations continue.

Fury has also spoken about taking another interim fight before meeting Joshua. No opponent has been officially announced, although veteran Albanian heavyweight Nelson Hysa has been mentioned as a possible option.

Prenga enters the fight as a heavy underdog and has spent most of his career competing outside the top level of the heavyweight division.

A victory over Prenga would keep Joshua on course for a blockbuster fight with Fury. Turki Alalshikh said this week that discussions continue, although no date or location has been finalized.
