Tyson Fury Announces August 1 Return In Dublin

Fury says he will fight in Dublin ahead of the planned heavyweight showdown with Joshua later this year

Tyson Fury says he will return to the ring on August 1 in Dublin as preparations continue for a long-awaited fight against Anthony Joshua later this year. Fury revealed the date in a social media post after previously confirming he wanted another fight before facing Joshua.

“Let’s go, August 1, Dublin, Ireland.”

The announcement appears to place Fury on the same card already scheduled by promoter Frank Warren in Dublin, where Pierce O’Leary is set to face Mark Chamberlain for the IBO super-lightweight title.

No opponent has been confirmed for Fury’s return bout, although Warren recently said the former heavyweight champion would face a “good heavyweight” in the interim fight.

Fury returned from a 16-month retirement in April and defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The 37-year-old is expected to face Joshua toward the end of 2026 if both men win their interim fights. Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga in July in Saudi Arabia.

Fury has continued calling for the Joshua fight since his win over Makhmudov, while also maintaining that he was robbed in both defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

Warren has not revealed who Fury will face in Dublin, but Queensberry is expected to match him carefully ahead of the Joshua fight. Fury looked rusty at times against Makhmudov in April, and another tune-up could help sharpen him before what could be the biggest payday of his career later this year
