Tony Bellew Says Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury Won’t Go Distance

Bellew said he cannot see Joshua and Fury reaching the scorecards if they fight in November

Tony Bellew believes Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will end by knockout if their long-awaited heavyweight fight happens later this year. Bellew said he expects the winner to emerge before the final bell rather than through a decision.

A November fight between Joshua and Fury is still expected if neither man suffers a setback.
Bellew said one prediction already feels certain.

“The only thing that I can fully, really commit to and put my hand on my heart and say, ‘I really genuinely think this is going to happen’ is that it ain’t going the distance,” Bellew said on the Fight Your Corner Podcast.

Bellew leaned toward Joshua as the more dangerous finisher but admitted he still needs to see what Joshua has left after the Dubois defeat.

“The reason that I can’t put my hand on my heart and think ‘it is Josh’ is because I need to see Josh in a ring and see what he can do,” said Bellew.

Bellew believes Joshua’s best route is to attack Fury aggressively instead of trying to outbox him over 12 rounds.

“The case that I could make for him is, if he gets in that ring and lets his hands go for just six rounds, even if he thinks ‘I am just going to let them go’, he has got the capability of knocking anybody out.”

“That is what I will be predicting, Joshua could knock him out.”

The fight has been discussed around the heavyweight division for years without becoming reality. Fury retired multiple times before returning again this spring, while Joshua has spent the last several months rebuilding his position after the Dubois loss.

Andy Ruiz Jr. has also recently mentioned interest in fighting Fury, giving Fury another possible option if plans for the Joshua fight fall apart again before November.
