Shakur Stevenson renewed talk of a fight with Devin Haney on Tuesday after responding to Bill Haney’s latest message with a direct challenge that omitted one familiar detail.

Unlike Shakur’s earlier posts about Haney, he made no mention of a 144-pound catchweight. Over the summer, much of the public discussion revolved around that number before Bill Haney insisted Devin would only compete at the full welterweight limit.
The latest exchange keeps the matchup alive without revisiting the weight dispute that dominated earlier conversations. By leaving out any reference to 144 pounds, Stevenson issued a straightforward invitation for Team Haney to move the fight forward.
A meeting between the two champions would rank among the biggest bouts available in American boxing. Shakur captured the Ring Magazine and WBO light welterweight titles with his victory over Teofimo Lopez, while Haney currently holds the WBO welterweight championship.
Both remain among boxing’s biggest American names, making the matchup attractive despite competing in different weight classes.
There is still no indication that formal negotiations have begun. Shakur is expected to satisfy his WBO mandatory defense at 140 pounds before pursuing other opportunities, while Haney remains established at welterweight. On Monday, WBO president Gustavo Olivieri said that Shakur’s mandatory for his light welterweight title would be due by November.
Shakur has consistently called for a fight with Haney in recent months. His latest post differs from the earlier exchanges because he challenged Team Haney without attaching a specific weight to the bout.
