Promoter points to Benavidez’s workrate and openings, backing Ramirez’s power to turn the fight in one exchange

De La Hoya pointed to Benavidez’s pressure style as both a strength and a weakness, arguing that the volume comes without the same threat on every shot.

“Benavidez throws a lot of punches. ” He doesn’t throw everything with power, and he doesn’t really have a good chin,” said Golden Boy promoter De La Hoya to Fight Hub TV.

That assessment cuts against how many fans see Benavidez, who is often favored in high-output fights because of his ability to overwhelm opponents over time. De La Hoya didn’t dispute that part. He focused instead on the openings it creates.

On the other side, he described his fighter as measured and dangerous in shorter bursts, suggesting the fight could swing quickly if the right punch lands.

“Zurdo, on the other hand, takes his time. He’s very calculated. But every punch he throws, it’s hard. It’s got bad intentions.”

The difference, in De La Hoya’s telling, is efficiency versus activity. Benavidez may control stretches with output, but De La Hoya sees a path where that approach leaves him exposed in exchanges.

“All it takes in one exchange with Benavidez is throwing punches and punches. All it takes is one. That’s all it takes. And it can change the fight.”

Even while acknowledging why Benavidez is viewed as the favorite, De La Hoya made his pick clear, betting on a single moment over sustained pressure.

“I’m going to go with Zurdo by a haymaker.”

It’s a simple read, but a pointed one. Volume can win rounds, but De La Hoya is betting that one clean shot decides the fight.
