The Ali family announces that Muhammad Ali’s funeral service will be streamed to the public outside The O2 in London – home of the I Am The Greatest exhibition – on Friday 10 June from 7pm UK time. The service will also be streamed live on AliCenter.org.
Muhammad Ali is one of the most recognisable and influential sports figures of the 20th Century. His achievements both in the ring and through his dedicated humanitarian efforts around the world solidified him as one of the most respected and trailblazing figures in modern history.
After a 32‐year battle with Parkinson’s disease, the boxing icon passed away at the age of 74. The funeral service will take place in the boxer’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky on Friday 10 June at 2pm ET.
The funeral will be shown on giant screens by the main entrance of The O2 on Peninsula Square. Those who wish to pay homage to Muhammad Ali in London may do so by leaving flowers or signing the Book of Condolence at The O2’s I Am The Greatest exhibition (located above Brooklyn Bowl). Donations can be made to the Muhammad Ali Center, Ali’s foundation that continues to preserve and share Ali’s legacy and humanitarianism, at www.alicenter.org.
The O2’s I Am The Greatest exhibition opened on 3 March this year. The exhibition showcases Muhammad Ali’s extraordinary life, featuring more than 100 artefacts – including unseen footage, fight tickets and programmes, documents, photographs and rare personal memorabilia – taking visitors through his incredible journey. I Am The Greatest is scheduled to run until 31 August 2016.
