Keyshawn Davis Open To Brian Norman Jr. Fight If Devin Haney Bout Stalls

WBO mandatory challenger says he wants a true 50-50 fight and would welcome Norman if Haney is unavailable

Keyshawn Davis says Brian Norman Jr. is a fight he would gladly take if his expected title shot against Devin Haney fails to materialize. The newly installed WBO mandatory challenger says he wants the biggest fights available and is looking for the kind of matchup that brings real pressure and high expectations.

“I really want a big fight for me to really get motivated, for me to do a freaking two-month training camp,” Keyshawn said to InsideRingShow. “I want something that I’m putting it all on the line, like it’s a 50-50 fight to the fans’ eyes. I’m just ready for that. I’m ready for a lotta pressure. I’m ready for a major, big fight. I’m ready for that, so we going for it, Devin Haney.”

“I told my peoples to reach out to Brian Norman,” Davis said. “And then the next day I was [made] the mandatory [challenger for Haney]. But yeah, I’ll fight Brian.”

Norman (29-1, 23 KOs) returned to the win column last month when he stopped Josh Wagner in the second round on the undercard of Davis’ victory over Albright at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The 25-year-old from Conyers, Georgia, had previously dropped a unanimous decision to Haney in Saudi Arabia on November 22.

Davis (15-0, 10 KOs), a 2021 Olympic silver medalist, has yet to compete at the welterweight limit as a professional. However, after defeating Albright in a bout contested at 140 pounds, he informed the WBO of his intention to move up to 147 pounds in pursuit of a world title opportunity.
