Kellie Maloney joined Christian O’Connell on Absolute Radio this morning for a very open and honest interview and did not hold back on her thoughts on Tyson Fury.

Kellie took part in Who’s Calling Christian where, over two weeks the great British public are asked to encourage celebrities to call in to the Absolute Radio Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show to be in with the chance of winning £20,000 for their chosen charity.

She said “I was very lucky because I managed a great heavyweight in Lennox Lewis who didn’t behave anything like Tyson Fury. He was very respectable and had a great image. I’m a great believer that if you’re the heavyweight champion of the world or you’re the champion of anything or you’re in the position where people look up to you, you’ve got to set certain standards and become a role model”

“Unfortunately for Tyson Fury, he’s done the opposite. I think he’s degraded the heavyweight championship with his insults to the gay community, with his insults to the trans community, with his insults to human life.”

“He’s tweeting insulting things to the boxing world and especially when you consider that a young fighter had died in the ring over the weekend”

“Am I in love with boxing the way I was, I’m not anymore because I think it’s changed so much and especially when I heard about the death of Mike Towell and my thoughts go out to all of his family and friends because it is one of the hardest sports in the world and it’s one of the most dangerous sports in the world. I don’t think they can ever eliminate that danger from the sport but it is the choice of the individual.”

“I manage three young fighters at the moment in the lowest division starting back up again but I question if I should stay in the sport because of these accidents that are happening because the sport that I grew up and loved is not the sport that my father introduced me to.”
