Justin DeLoach scores KO Of The Year candidate over Dillon Cook

If you are a fan of brutal one-punch knockouts, chances are you will not find a more savage KO to satisfy your bloodlust than the one super-welterweight Justin DeLoach scored last night in Miami, Oklahoma. The 22-year-old known as “The Chosen One,” absolutely ruined previously unbeaten (16-0) Dillon Cook with a sizzling right hand to the head in the 4th-round. The instant the shot landed, Cook was gone and he crumpled into a kind of sitting position with his legs underneath him. It was as destructive as it was scary.

Improving his record to 14-1(8), DeLoach, now being trained by ex-champ Paul Williams – who, as fans know, was forced to quit the ring himself when a motorbike accident left him paralysed from the waist down – has won four in a row since suffering his sole pro loss, a TKO defeat against New York’s Cesar Vila in February of last year. Last night’s fight saw Williams make his training debut and he later admitted to being very nervous going in. He needn’t have been, as DeLoach showed his ferocious power in style.

Definitely one to watch, DeLoach is an action fighter who throws, like Williams did, close to a hundred punches a round when he fights. And, as he showed against Cook, DeLoach has great punching power. At just 22 and with only 15 pro bouts under his belt, it’s still way too early to make any accurate prediction on how far DeLoach can go. Still, it seems to be a good partnership he has with Williams (with “The Punisher’s” lifelong trainer George Peterson also lending his words of wisdom to the young fighter) and after last night’s highlight reel KO, fans are thirsty to see more of DeLoach.

“This was a great win for all of us,” DeLoach said after his win. “I’m ready to do this again.”

If he can score further KO’s as devastating as last night’s, DeLoach will fast become a real fan favourite. Last night’s KO is sure to get a ton of hits on You Tube!
