Fisher says Wardley will recover from knockdown before stopping Dubois

Johnny Fisher expects Fabio Wardley to stop Daniel Dubois after surviving a knockdown in their heavyweight fight. Fisher said the bout could swing before ending late.

Fisher has sparred both heavyweights and believes the fight could swing several times before ending inside the distance.

“Wardley, round 10 stoppage,” Fisher said to The Sun Sport. “I reckon that he comes off the canvas in round three, and then he comes back in round 10 and stops Daniel. It is going to be a close-fought fight. I think that the fight gets stopped by the referee.”

The prediction fits the reputation both heavyweights have built.

Wardley has developed a habit of rescuing fights with power after losing rounds, most notably in his draw against Frazer Clarke and the rematch win that followed. His aggressive style and willingness to exchange have made him one of the more entertaining heavyweights in Britain, but it has also left questions about how he would react if hurt by a puncher at Dubois’ level.

Dubois enters the fight with the heavier record at the world level and the WBO heavyweight title, but his chin and stamina continue to be debated whenever he is dragged into difficult rounds. That discussion intensified again after recent comments from Tony Bellew, who described Dubois as a front-running fighter who becomes vulnerable once resistance comes back at him.

Fisher’s prediction lands directly in the middle of those competing views. He expects Dubois to hurt Wardley early, but he also believes Wardley’s confidence and pressure will eventually wear the champion down.

The fight takes place Saturday at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester. It will be the first world title fight of Wardley’s career and one of the biggest tests Dubois has faced since being upgraded to WBO champion last November.
