Lucas Bahdi has made a habit of ruining perfect records. Floyd Schofield Jr. puts his 19-0 record on the line against the Canadian when they meet for the vacant WBA lightweight title on October 10.
Golden Boy and Most Valuable Promotions reached an agreement rather than going through the WBA purse bid process. The bid was scheduled with a minimum of $150,000 before the promotional companies worked out a deal.
“The fight takes place October 10. We are 99% sure it will be in Las Vegas,” Schofield’s manager Michael Miller told The Ring. “We are thankful for the chance to fight for a title. It is something we have waited on for years.”
Bahdi (20-0, 15 KOs) scored a massive victory in July 2024 by knocking out Ashton Sylve in the sixth round. Sylve controlled much of the action until Bahdi landed a decisive late combination.
The 32-year-old Canadian then beat Armando Casamonica and Ryan James Racaza, handing both fighters their first professional losses. He followed those victories with a 12-round unanimous decision over former WBA junior lightweight champion Roger Gutierrez last August.
Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) has been inactive since stopping Tevin Farmer in one round in June 2025. By fight night, the 23-year-old will have spent nearly a year and a half outside the ring.
His previous world title opportunity against Shakur Stevenson disappeared during fight week in February 2025 when Schofield withdrew due to illness.
Schofield occupies the WBA’s No. 1 spot, one place above Bahdi. They will fight for the belt vacated by Gervonta Davis.
Schofield brings speed and youth to the ring. His long absence gives Bahdi something to test from the opening bell. With 15 knockouts in 20 fights, the Canadian has proven he can turn a fight around at any moment.
