Exhibition bout set for OAKA Olympic Complex as pay-per-view details await
Floyd Mayweather will face Mike Zambidis in an exhibition fight on June 27 in Athens, Greece. The bout will take place at the OAKA Olympic Complex, with pay-per-view details yet to be confirmed
The fight, titled Battle of the Legends: Mayweather vs. Zambidis, pairs one of boxing’s biggest names against one of the most popular fighters in Greek kickboxing history. Zambidis built his name through K-1 competition and knockout-heavy fights that made him a major attraction in Greece.
Mayweather has spent the years since his 2017 retirement turning exhibitions into an international business model, fighting in Japan, Dubai, the United Kingdom, and other markets where his name still carries major value. The Greece event follows the same blueprint, with local organizers treating it as a large-scale crossover attraction rather than a traditional boxing event.
“This is an opportunity for me to sharpen my skills for what’s to come this year,” said Mayweather. “I’ve never fought in Greece before, but I look forward to experiencing their beautiful country and meeting their people. Mike Zambidis has achieved a lot in his sport, but I’ve stayed sharp, and I’m ready for anything thrown my way.”
The mention of “what’s to come this year” suggests Mayweather may already have more exhibition appearances lined up after the Zambidis fight. Floyd has stayed active through exhibitions against fighters and personalities from multiple combat sports backgrounds, often tied to international pay-per-view deals.
Zambidis called the fight a major moment for him personally.
“It’s an incredible thrill for me to face the great Floyd Mayweather,” said Zambidis. “I have faced many of the best fighters of several disciplines, but I am looking forward to testing my skills against one of the greatest boxers of all time and I’m very happy to be having this experience in front of my beloved Greek people.”
The card will be promoted by Frontrow Fight Series, Mayweather Promotions, and Zambidis Club. Ticket sales are already underway, while pay-per-view details are expected to be announced later.
