Edgar Berlanga Targets Chris Eubank Jr. for Massive London Fight

The former title challenger says Chris Eubank Jr. is the biggest fight available and wants to close 2026 with a showdown at The O2 Arena

Edgar Berlanga wants Chris Eubank Jr. next and believes a London showdown is the biggest fight available before the end of 2026. While several names remain in play, Berlanga says Eubank is the opponent he wants most if he wins on July 26.

Berlanga returns against Hamzah Sheeraz’s replacement opponent, Hamzah Butler, in the main event of Zuffa Boxing’s July 26 card at Madison Square Garden. Looking beyond that bout, he made it clear that Eubank sits at the top of his wish list.

“I think that it’s a good money fight. I feel like it’s a good money fight. He has a name. He has swag,” said Berlanga to Fight Hub TV about his interest in fighting Eubank Jr. next. “He could fight and he’s a trash talker. Once you get me in that mode where you’re talking trash, I’m going to go back to the New York Edgar. I think that’s going to be a big fight for us in London. We could do it at the O2 Arena. London is a big market that loves boxing. Between us, the swag and the way we talk and the way we could build up a great fight, I think it’ll be good for the end of the year.”

The matchup makes sense commercially, even if it isn’t the most direct path toward a world title. Eubank remains one of Britain’s biggest boxing attractions despite turning 36 and coming off a disappointing loss to Conor Benn in November. His name still carries considerable value, particularly in the United Kingdom, where he has headlined major events throughout his career.

The appeal for Berlanga goes beyond what happens once the opening bell rings. He sees two outspoken personalities capable of generating interest during the promotion, with London providing a fitting stage for a transatlantic showdown.

Berlanga also mentioned Jaime Munguia, Jermall Charlo and a rematch with Hamzah Sheeraz as future possibilities during the interview. Yet when asked about the fight he wants to finish the year with, Eubank was the first name he volunteered.

That suggests Berlanga’s immediate priority isn’t chasing one of the division’s titleholders. Instead, he appears focused on securing the biggest available event while rebuilding his standing following the loss to Sheeraz. A victory on July 26 would keep that plan alive and give Zuffa another marketable matchup to pursue before the end of 2026.
