Edgar Berlanga portrays himself as the fighter everyone wants a piece of in his latest X post, sharing a “hit list” graphic with seven recognizable names reaching for the crown on his head. His recent performances make that a difficult image to sell.

The graphic depicts Tank, Jake Paul, Hamzah Sheeraz, Canelo Alvarez, Caleb Plant, Jermall Charlo and Chris Eubank Jr. surrounding Berlanga as he sits on a throne. The message places him above the fighters he wants to face, with the others trying to take what belongs to him.
Sheeraz’s inclusion is particularly bold. He stopped Berlanga in five rounds in 2025, leaving the New Yorker with unfinished business that a crown and a throne cannot resolve. Berlanga would have something to prove in a rematch. Sheeraz already has a victory to point to.
Berlanga did win his last fight against Steven Butler in July, but even that came with trouble. The fringe contender dropped him in round two, forcing Berlanga to recover before securing the victory. Winning after a knockdown deserves credit, although that performance hardly establishes him as the man the division’s best need to chase.
The more realistic reading of this list is that Berlanga needs those opponents to help rebuild his credibility and put him back into lucrative fights. Calling them out makes promotional sense. Depicting them as challengers desperate to remove his crown stretches the sales pitch.
There are potentially marketable fights among the names pictured, and Berlanga’s willingness to promote himself can help attract attention. However, recognizable opponents have their own options. His post supplies no evidence that any of them are pursuing him.
Berlanga has given himself the royal treatment before earning the position the artwork suggests. His next opponent will offer a better measure of where he belongs than a graphic showing seven fighters reaching for his head.
