Eddie Hearn Questions Fury Joshua Press Conference Over Contract Dispute

Eddie Hearn is no longer treating next week’s Fury–Joshua press conference as certain. After Netflix named Dana White as a promotional collaborator, Hearn told IFL TV there is still business to settle and alleged that the organizers have already breached Joshua’s contract roughly six times.

Hearn refuses to stomach White muscling into the British heavyweight promotion, claiming Joshua’s contractual terms shut out the UFC boss entirely.

“I’ll be calling Netflix to remind them of their contractual obligations and it’ll be dealt with like we dealt with the other situation [location]. We’re supposed to have a presser next week, now, we have stuff to sort out.” Hearn stated in an interview with IFL TV.

Hearn spent weeks digging in his heels to block the bout from shipping off to New York, clinging to Joshua’s territorial demands to keep the paydays anchored on home soil. He won that battle, dragging the circus to Wales. The victory soured the second Netflix gave White top billing on the promotional roster. White smelled blood in big-time boxing ages ago, openly chasing a piece of this event while Hearn desperately tried to lock the front door.

Neither camp made the signed paperwork public, leaving Hearn’s threats looking like desperate posturing rather than a genuine breach of contract. Netflix never specified White’s actual duties, which might range from basic marketing hype to running significant pieces of the operation. Hearn cannot stand losing an inch of control, turning a standard press release into another petty war of egos before tickets even go on sale.

Hearn has zero leverage to dictate terms to the platform cutting the checks. He managed to drag the event to Cardiff because Joshua had a geographical clause in his agreement, but trying to bully Netflix over marketing credits is a completely different game.

Netflix and Turki Alalshikh control the purse strings, the global platform, and the production. When a trillion-dollar streaming company publishes an official press release putting Dana White and The Ring in promotional roles, that decision is already signed, sealed, and delivered. The broadcaster is spending tens of millions of dollars to acquire live sports programming. They are not taking marching orders from a regional promoter who needs this platform far more than the platform needs him.

Hearn running to British cameras to cite contractual obligations looks like pure theater. Joshua is not walking away from the biggest payday left in his career just because Dana White shares a stage in London next week. The money dictates who runs the show. White brings massive crossover pull in North America, which is precisely the subscriber base Netflix wants to activate on a Friday afternoon stream.

Hearn will shout into microphones, attend the press events, and pretend he defended Matchroom territory. In reality, he has to swallow Dana White sitting at the top table because Netflix decided who they wanted in the room the moment they bought the rights.
