Top Rank secured the WBO promotion rights, but the champion has already revealed where he wants the title fight staged.

Devin Haney has thrown his support behind Atlanta for his WBO welterweight title defense against Keyshawn Davis after Top Rank won the $8.55 million purse bid. His public message arrived before the venue was finalized, adding a fresh twist to the promotion’s next decision.

“ATL.. let’s go!” Haney said on X after Top Rank secured the promotional rights with its $8.55 million offer.

Atlanta is close enough to Norfolk, Virginia, that many of Davis’ most dedicated fans could make the trip. That creates the possibility of a lively atmosphere with strong backing for both fighters rather than a one-sided crowd.

Ring Magazine reported that three venues were discussed for the championship fight: State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Barclays Center in New York City and Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.

Haney’s comment left little doubt about which site he hopes gets the event.

His father, Bill Haney, followed with a quote post of his own.

“October 3rd? 🫡 🚀”

Under the WBO split, Haney is entitled to 75 percent of the winning offer, while Davis receives the remaining 25 percent.

Atlanta has hosted several major boxing events in recent years, giving Haney an opportunity to headline in front of a large crowd outside the sport’s traditional homes. New York remains another established destination, while Las Vegas continues to serve as one of boxing’s biggest stages.

The venue has not been finalized, and the remaining paperwork still must be completed before the promotion can move forward. Haney’s preference, however, is no longer a mystery. His social media update made it clear that Atlanta sits at the top of his list for the fight with Davis.
