Devin Haney says Gervonta Davis’ team has reached out about a potential fight, providing the strongest sign in years that discussions may be taking place between the two rivals. Haney revealed the contact on social media and suggested the long-discussed matchup could finally gain momentum.

“I think Gervonta grew some balls.. his team reached out! We might just end up fighting! 😅,” Haney posted on X.

The comment immediately generated discussion among fans because Haney spent years calling for a fight with Davis while both competed in and around the lightweight division. Despite frequent debate over who would win, the matchup never advanced beyond public callouts and social media exchanges.

Haney eventually became the undisputed lightweight champion in 2022, while Davis continued developing into one of boxing’s biggest attractions and pay-per-view draws. Even as both fighters collected major victories, a fight between them remained out of reach.

The timing of Haney’s latest comments is notable because his recent focus has largely centered on potential fights against Ryan Garcia, Shakur Stevenson, and the WBO’s expected welterweight title order involving Keyshawn Davis.

Now, Haney is indicating that Gervonta’s side has entered the picture.

Neither fighter has announced an agreement, and no fight has been officially confirmed. However, Haney’s claim that Davis’ team made contact is the clearest indication in years that discussions may have taken place regarding one of boxing’s most requested matchups.

Despite frequent debate over who would win, the matchup never advanced beyond public callouts and social media exchanges for more than five years.

Davis has not fought since his controversial draw with Lamont Roach in March 2025 and has made just two ring appearances since defeating Ryan Garcia in April 2023.
