After previously insisting the fight belonged in Britain, Hearn admits discussions could be held about staging it in America

Eddie Hearn has opened the door to Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fighting in the United States, despite previously insisting the heavyweight showdown was contractually tied to Britain. Speaking to Chris Mannix, Hearn said there could be room for discussions if the existing agreement is renegotiated.

“If they want to come to us and renegotiate the deal and talk about maybe doing it in the US, maybe there’s a conversation to be had,” Hearn told Chris Mannix. “But the whole spirit of that deal was for the biggest event in the history of British boxing.”

“Right now, that’s where we expect it, and that’s where that fight should take place. And that’s what I can tell you.”

Hearn had previously emphasized that the existing agreement favored Britain as the destination for a potential Joshua-Fury showdown.

“What Dana White doesn’t know is in the contract, not only does it say Dana White, Zuffa, TKO can have nothing to do promotionally with the event, it also says at the desire of Anthony Joshua and Matchroom, that fight must take place in the UK, said Hearn.

Joshua and Fury have been linked to one another for years, with negotiations repeatedly stalling despite periods of optimism. More recently, Dana White has publicly discussed the possibility of staging the fight in Las Vegas, while Turki Alalshikh has continued to play a central role in financing many of boxing’s biggest events in recent years.

No official announcement has been made regarding the promotional structure, venue or date for a Joshua-Fury showdown.
