Bill’s comments came after Shakur again suggested Devin should relinquish the WBO belt before the fight. Over the past several weeks, Shakur has repeatedly argued that Haney should vacate the title, claiming it would remove a major obstacle to making the bout and allow mandatory challenger Keyshawn Davis to pursue the vacant championship.

Team Haney has taken the opposite position. Rather than discussing the WBO title, Bill says the focus should be on the contract already in front of Shakur. His message leaves little room for negotiation: sign the agreement at 144 pounds or Devin Haney Promotions (DHP) will move on to other options.

The proposed matchup has become one of boxing’s most public negotiations, with both camps regularly trading messages on social media. While both fighters have expressed interest in facing one another, the dispute over the catchweight and Haney’s WBO title has kept the fight from being finalized.

Bill’s post suggests Team Haney believes the negotiations have reached a decisive stage. Instead of continuing to debate whether Devin should vacate his title, they’re putting the responsibility back on Shakur to accept the existing 144-pound agreement. If neither side backs down, one of the sport’s biggest potential fights could fall apart before contracts are ever signed.
