Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury Agreed, Date Still Unclear

Both camps confirm deal for British heavyweight clash as October or November timeline is discussed

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua has been agreed in principle, with both sides confirming the fight is in place. The remaining issue is timing, with October and November both under discussion.

Fury returned earlier this month and outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov, then called for a long-awaited meeting with Joshua, who was at ringside. Joshua has not fought since a car crash in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends, though he has confirmed plans to continue his career.

It was announced this week that Joshua will face Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh. The fight is being treated as a step toward finally getting Fury in the ring later this year.

Promoter Eddie Hearn says the plan is already mapped out from his side, with a target set for November.

“We will return in July, against Kristian Prenga, and then, all being well, we will fight Tyson Fury in November. It is all signed from our side, done,” Hearn said on The Punch Podcast.

“Fury has said that he has signed as well, so touch wood, we are finally going to get what is unquestionably the biggest fight in the history of British boxing and maybe even close to the biggest ever on a world scale.”

But Frank Warren is working to a slightly earlier schedule. He said October is more likely.

“It is signed. Tyson signed up for it months ago, and we have been waiting for AJ, and he has now done it. So, the fight will be on, and it will be on sometime in October by the looks of it,” said Warren to talkSport Boxing.

Both sides agree that the fight is in place. The remaining question is timing, and whether Fury takes another bout before facing Joshua.
