De La Hoya sued again

By Vitali Shaposhinov: When history tells a story of the Golden Boy of boxing, Oscar De La Hoya, the story will have two very different, and highly contrasting sides.

The first part will talk about the (39-6-0) welterweight world champion. He will be remembered as the “Fighter of the Year” in 1995 and Ring Magazine’s top-rated Pound for Pound fighter in the world in 1997 & 1998. De La Hoya has defeated 17 world champions and has won ten world titles in six different weight classes. Truthfully, there are simply too many accomplishments to mention right now, as it would take up pages and pages of space. He is truly of a kind person in the sport of boxing.

The second part of his life, which nobody will ever fail to mention, is the life of drugs and alcohol abuse, amongst other disturbing habits and actions that have been recently revealed. Unfortunately for Oscar, the negative information that has been exposed at his expense is unlikely to stop haunting him for many years to come.

Just recently, according to a Reuters article (http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/46139993/ns/sports-other_sports/), yet another woman has filed a lawsuit against Oscar. Angelica Cecora, 25, accused De La Hoya of dressing in women’s underwear while trying to force her to engage in “disgusting” sexual acts in March 2011. “Once 12 o’clock hit that night, he just started doing more and more drugs and wanted me to do more and more things,” said Cecora.
“The complaint says Cecora and De La Hoya had sex and shortly afterward the boxing champ put on her underwear and walked around the room at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New York City. De La Hoya then picked up a phone and ordered around $300 worth of cocaine and marijuana to be delivered to his room, the complaint said.”

According to Cecora, “things took a wild turn that I didn’t sign up for.” She claimed that she was afraid fro her life, which could very well be true since drugs and alcohol were involved.

If Cecora wins the lawsuit, this might spell something very worrisome for Oscar. A lawsuit after a lawsuit might be the result of Cecora winning her case, as any woman that can prove that she was in Oscar’s company during his abuse day would claim mistreatment and god knows what else.

Allegations like this don’t go away, but I am hoping that Oscar can find peace sometime soon.
