31.10.07 – Nathan King: Edison Miranda (29-2, 25 KO) made an impressive super middleweight debut with a 5th round stoppage over Henry Porras (33-7-1, 25 KO) at the Seminole Hard Rock LIVE Arena in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday, October 30. Referee Frank Santore stopped the fight at 2:45 seconds of the 5th round after a brutal combination from Miranda. This was Miranda’s first fight back after his May 19th knockout loss to Kelly Pavlik. Needless to say, he did it in impressive fashion..
There had been questions raised on how Miranda would bounce back after his loss to Pavlik. It’s hard for a fighter to recover impressively after being knocked out in that fashion, especially after being the clear, cut favorite. Miranda more than answered those questions.
It was obvious that Miranda had weight problems in his previous weight class (160 lbs), but it seems apparent that he has come back strong at 168 lbs. It is a popular choice among boxing fans, especially on forum websites, that Miranda will be a titleholder. It is only a matter of time before we see how Miranda will fair in the future of his career at super middleweight.
