Top Irish Jr. Middleweight James Moore Headlines Bronx Card Packed with Rising Stars

June 22, 2007 (New York) – The 4th installment of the popular “Punchin’ at the Paradise” series is back at Utopia’s Paradise Theater, Thursday July 12th, in the Bronx, New York. Headlining the event will be undefeated Irish Jr. Middleweight prospect James Moore (11-0, 8KO’s), taking on tough Mexican warrior Jesse Orta of Dallas, TX, in an eight round bout. This event is being promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing..

In just 11 pro bouts, Moore, a bronze medalist at the 2001 World Amateur Boxing Championships, has demolished all comers with his come-forward style and debilitating body punching. His opponents have averaged only 3.3 rounds in the ring with the Irish terror. “As an amateur I wasn’t the most accurate puncher, but I found that hitting the body was the bigger and more natural target” said Moore.

The July 12th event will be Moore’s Bronx debut, and he’s looking forward to putting on a crowd pleasing performance. “I encourage all my fans to come to Utopia’s Paradise Theater July 12th-it’s going to be an electrifying night of action” says Moore.

The under-card features some of the brightest, young talent in the sport today. Philadelphia’s Eric “The Outlaw” Hunter (7-1, 3KO’s), who recently signed a long term promotional deal with Star Boxing, will cross gloves with the always exciting Hassan Wasswa in a six round Super Featherweight bout.

Philadelphia’s Ray Robinson (3-0) is scheduled for 4-rounds of action. In his last outing, the young Robinson was tested by Roberto Acevedo who dropped him in the first round. But like a true professional, Robinson quickly regained his faculties and rallied back to take over the fight, eventually forcing Acevedo to foul out of the match. Robinson says he’s ready for whoever they put in front of him July 12th.

Bronx powerhouse Vaughn Parham (2-0, 2KO’s) is ready to thrill his hometown fans as he shoots for his third victory as a pro. Parham will collide with David Saulsberry (5-2, 5KO’s) of Greenville, KY.

Puerto Rico’s Orlando Cruz (13-0, 6KO’s) will lock horns with Detroit native Cornelus Lock (15-3-1, 9KO’s) in an 8-round Super Bantamweight attraction.

The popular Alicia Ahsley (13-7-1, 1KO), the only woman to KO Elena “Baby Doll” Reid, will fight in an 8-round bout against an opponent to be announced shortly.

In four round action, Yonkers Cruiserweight Jon “Fighting Marine” Schneider (3-1, 2KO’s) is ready to war with Andrew Hutchinson (2-9-2). Schneider was honorably discharged from the marines as a Corporal in the 2nd Battalion 4th Marine Division and participated in Operation Desert Fox.

Mike Ruiz (2-2, 1KO) will be representing Long Island, NY, when he battles James Ventry (3-3, 2KO’s) of Lewiston, NY in a 4-round Jr. Welterweight clash.

The heavyweight action continues when Levon Warner (6-4-2, 1KO) returns to the ring to square off against Terrell Nelson (6-4, 4KO’s).

Don’t miss out on this exciting evening of action brought to you by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the first fight goes on at 7:30 PM.
