Shannon Landberg Talks About Bobby Gunn

August 23, 2006 West Lafayette, IN Having grown-up in and around boxing his entire life, Cruiserweight Shannon Landberg (58-11 w/26 KO’s) has seen and done most everything in the squared circle except win a Professional World Championship. On September 16, 2006 “Sandman” gets his second crack at a World Title when he meets Bobby Gunn (15-2 w/12 KO’s) for the IBA World Cruiserweight Title..

Landberg is preparing and training hard to make the most of this opportunity. His first World Title fight occurred in 1997 against World Champion Mads Larson in Denmark. Even though he lost that bout, Landberg feels the experience, along with his 10 round battle in 2001 against long-reigning WBC Super Middleweight World Champion Markus Beyer will give him a decided edge over his upcoming foe Bobby Gunn.

“I have been fighting my entire life and I am certain that my experiences will pay-off when I meet Bobby Gunn in the ring at the LCO Casino. Boxing has provided many great opportunities and memories for me over the years. Starting when I was a teenager winning the PAL National Championships and several State Golden Gloves competitions, I have always worked hard and given 100% in the ring. While boxing for the Army Team, I met Ray Mercer in Germany and I had the opportunity to fight for and win the European Boxing Tournament. When I fought Mads Larson in Denmark, it was a great experience being involved in an International fight and competing at the highest level for a World Title. Even though I lost that bout, I learned a lot. Sometimes you can learn more from a loss than you can from a win. My last fight with Tommy Hearns was not my best performance because I took the fight on short notice and I gave Hearns’ power too much respect. I truly believe if I had of been in better condition, I would have won that fight. I am proud to say that I went 10 rounds with the great Tommy Hearns, though! I am training very hard for this IBA World Title fight and will be prepared to go 12 hard rounds against Bobby Gunn. I will be ready! I would like to thank Joe “Mack” McEwen of Rock Solid Boxing for presenting this IBA World Title opportunity to me. Like I always say, it is another day at the office for me and, win, lose or draw, I ALWAYS give 100%.” Cruiserweight Shannon Landberg

“Shannon Landberg is a consummate Professional and with over 70 fights, he presents a formidable challenge and a step-up in competition for Bobby Gunn. Shannon is the type of fighter that always comes to fight and will not disappoint the fans when the bell rings! Shannon Landberg is an excellent boxer with a fine resume of experience. I would like to add that Shannon is also a gentleman and has been a pleasure to work with while we have been putting this event together for the fight fans in Wisconsin. We look forward to an exciting and action-packed IBA World Title fight at the LCO Casino!” Joe “Mack” McEwen, Rock Solid Boxing
