Escalante & Hernandez Set The Boxing World On Fire

30.06.06 – Featherweights Antonio Escalante and Jose Hernandez put on an outstanding display of heart, courage and superior boxing skills Friday night as they battled in a ten round co-main event from Cicero Stadium, just outside of Chicago, IL, as part of a terrific evening of world class professional boxing promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING..

Shortly after the unanimous decision was awarded to the El Paso native Escalante by scores of 94-93, 95-92 and 94-92 the internet message boards were on fire as boxing fans across the globe were raving about the internationally televised fight, many comparing it to the first Diego Corrales/Jose Luis Castillo battle last May.

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions “Jose and Antonio really put on a great performance. Both of them have a lot to be proud of and I’m sure the TV networks will want to see more of each of them.”

Said the classy Hernandez, “He did more down the stretch to win, it was a great fight but I’ll be back. The fans here were terrific and many thanks to them.”

The main event of the evening was won by world ranked junior middleweight Marco Antonio Rubio who was declared winner by TKO following a spirited fight between him and fellow contender Aslanbek Kodzoev, which ended when Kodzoev did not leave his corner to start the 8th round after suffering a rib injury.

Also impressing with big off-TV wins during the action packed evening were light weight Mike Gonzalez, super bantamweight Jonathan Oquendo, junior welterweight Jose Manual Ortega, super bantamweight Francisco Rodriguez and featherweight Barbaro Zepeda. These bouts can be viewed at Maxboxing.com starting on Monday.
