01.06.05 – In a turn-around from the original announcement, Polish promoter Krzysztof Zbarski today informed that the championship clash between WBF superwelterweight champion Mihaly Kotai and Raul Bejarano this coming Saturday (June 4) in Aschersleben, Germany will after all be a true unification clash.. It was first thought that the fight would only be for the currently vacant IBO title, but now it is confirmed that the World Boxing Foundation, whose belt the Hungarian wears since 2003, has also sanctioned the bout!
Zbarski has promoted Kotai all through his career, but the fight with the Argentinian takes place in Germany due to the good relationship between Kotai’s German management Fight Production and local promoter SES Boxing.
While the defending champion, who has prepared at home in Budapest, plans to arrive just in time for the day-before weigh-in, 29-year-old Bejarano has already set foot on German soil yesterday, when his plane from Buenos Aires touched down in Berlin. His trainer Julio Garcia was optimistic in a first statement, saying “Kotai can be beaten, we have seen that on many videos and one thing is for sure, Raul will try his hardest. When do you get the chance to win two world titles in one night?.”
