30.11.03 – By Colin Clive: Scott Harrison regained his WBO Featherweight title on Saturday night by knocking out champion Manuel Medina in the 11th round at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena. Harrison, who had previously lost his title to Medina in his last bout, gained sweet revenge by knocking him down 4 times en route to victory.
Harrison attacked from the first bell, firing in a variety of head and body shots, which kept Medina on the defensive. Near the end of the 1st round, Harrison ripped Medina (62-14) with a clean right hand to the head that drove him back a few steps. Harrison followed, moments later, with a furry that knocked Medina down. Medina, a five time world champion, barely was able to get up and survive the round.
By the latter rounds, the Mexican champion had soaked up a lot of punishment, and begin to wear down considerably. Twice in the 10th round, Harrison (20-2-1) knocked Medina down with clubbing right hands top the head.
At the start of the 11th, Harrison rushed out and landed a stinging jab punctuated by a huge right hook that floored Medina. At that point, the Mexican champion’s corner decided to throw in the towel to prevent a further beating.
