Promoter Peter Maniatis has confirmed that unbeaten middleweight Michael Zerafa 15-0 and 22 years old takes on fellow unbeaten and 22 year old Russian Arif Magomedov for the WBO world youth title and the WBO Asia Pacific title in Moscow, Russia on October 24th.
Michael Zerafa has defeated Rey Anton Olarte which was voted fight of the year in Victoria in 2013 and also fought on Randy Petalcorin’s undercard while Petalcorin was campaigning in Australia for a few bouts. Zerafa is a flashy boxer, nick named “prettyboy”.
The main event will be fought between Russian Alexander Povetkin and Cameroon/France’s Carlos Takam for the WBC Heavyweight Silver title.
“The contracts have been signed and Michael and his trainer Joe Nader and myself will leave for Moscow on October 18th. It gives us 6 days to get over a 22 hour flight. The conditions will be different to Melbourne where we will be heading into summer and normally high temperatures of around 29c that time in Melbourne. Once we arrive in Moscow it would be only 1c or minus, so it will be freezing cold” said promoter Peter Maniatis.
The Russian promoter has booked our flight tickets early and told us we will be staying at the 5 star Marriott hotel along with Carlos Takam’s team so we are happy the Russian promoter team have been very professional” said Peter Maniatis.
