MISSISSAUGA (August 26) – United Boxing Promotions is proud to announce that the much anticipated clash between undefeated Oakville prospect Ryan Young (9-0-0, 7KOs) and Orangeville battler Ryan Wagner (6-3-0, 3KOs), slated for September 24 at Mississauga’s Hershey Centre, is now for the vacant Canadian super welterweight championship. With the title up for grabs, what was already an intriguing matchup has become Ontario’s most anticipated fight of 2016.
The heavy-handed Young demolished his international competition over the last two years before turning his attention towards his fellow Canucks and a national title. Most recently, Young took on Hungarian super welterweight king Krisztian Santa (12-7-2, 12KOs), stopping his European adversary at 2:38 of the fifth round. In Wagner, however, the Oakville prospect tangles with his most seasoned foe to date. With wins over western standouts Cody Ries (6-1-0, 2KOs) and Rory Coveney (10-2-0, 4KOs), as well as a victory of reigning Canadian middleweight champion Stuart McLellan (16-2-3, 5KOs), Wagner is no stranger to succeeding in the spotlight.
