ARECIBO, PUERTO RICO- World Boxing Organization (WBO) and its successful program Kids Drug Free, with former world champion Samuel Serrano, world ranked Emmanuel “Manny” Rodriguez and several Puerto Rican prospects gave a motivational talk to children and youth at the Campamento Asamblea de Dios in Miraflores, Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
WBO Administrative Adviser, Manuel Marrero Hueca, represented president Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel in the activity, and talked to the youth about keep away from drugs and other bad things and stay in school and playing sports.
While Serrano, who was world champion at 130 pounds between 1976 and 1983 and Manny Rodriguez, a gold medalist at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, silver at the 2010 Youth World Championship and now is the WBO Latino bantamweight champion and WBO #7 ranked, spoke to the children about their experiences of life as well as their time in the sport.
Besides Serrano and Rodriguez were present at the activity unbeaten prospects Jose “Chiquiro” Martinez, Carlos Rodriguez, Felix Caraballo and Angel Ortiz. Also trainers Julio Ortiz and José Trabal and the professional boxing referee Jose H. Rivera.
