WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman and the WBC champions were honored to be acknowledged by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Congresswoman Grace Napolitano at the United States Capitol last November. After a wonderful Mexican style lunch that was actually prepared by the Congresswoman followed by a tour of Congress, we had a meeting with delegates from Congress and the Hispanic Caucus.
President Sulaiman reaffirmed his pledge to support the Mental Health in Schools Act, promising free counseling to all school-aged children, and to fair immigration policies.
WBC Board Member Jill Diamond, who is also a member of the Congressional Mental Health Task Force, will continue to bring initiatives to the Council. “With the support of the WBC, we hope to work even closer with Congress this year and move towards positive, humanitarian changes on all fronts,” Jill said.
President Sulaiman has created an international WBC committee made up of conscientious WBC members to help make this a reality. This year, with Mental Health Month initiating in May, we will once again wear the green ribbons.
