(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – American middleweight Charles Conwell (Cleveland, Ohio) will return to the United States with a silver medal from his first international event of 2015. Conwell lost his final round contest at the 2015 Golden Gloves of Vovjodina on Sunday at the Subotica Sports Hall in Subotica, Serbia.
Conwell took on former European Champion Louis Totin of France in the men’s middleweight championship bout and the match-up was a hit with fans and officials alike. Although Conwell dropped a 3-0 decision to Toutin, the match was named the Bout of the Tournament.
He was not the only U.S. boxer to earn a berth on the medal stand at the international event, light flyweight Dylan Price (Sickerville, N.J.) won a bronze medal as well.
Coaches Augie Sanchez (Las Vegas, Nev.), Kay Koroma (Burke, Va.), and Jeff Mays (San Antonio, Texas) led the United States team at the 2015 Golden Gloves of Vojvodina.
The United States team will return to the United States on Monday.
