Undefeated Prospect Jose “Chico” Arambula Ready For “Golden Boy Live” In Sweet Home Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill.- Undefeated prospect, Jose “Chico” Arambula (6-0, 3 KOs) of Harvey faces Milwaukee’s David L. Diaz (4-0-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round lightweight bout on the April 14 undercard of “Golden Boy Live” from Chicago’s UIC Pavilion. An amateur stand out who amassed a record of 112-25 and earned a #3 ranking from USA Boxing, the 21-year-old prospect looks forward to showcasing his skills at home in the Windy City.

For the past five weeks, Chico has been training at the prestigious Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard, working with a team of trainers including Robert Garcia. “I feel blessed to be here and I’m taking advantage of every opportunity to learn,” Chico said. “I’m just being a sponge and soaking up as much knowledge and experience as I can.”

“Chico works hard and follows every instruction,” Garcia said. “He’s the first one in the gym every day and is always ready. He never questions who he’s sparring and he’s sparring world champions and gold medalists. The kid has talent.”

“This is the best camp I’ve ever had,” Chico said. “Robert is very passionate about coaching and it shows in all of his fighters.”

Last year, Chico was fortunate to spent time at camp with Canelo Alvarez as the Mexican superstar prepared for his PPV extravaganza against pound-for-pound king, Floyd Mayweather Jr. “One of the many things I learned from being in that kind of world class atmosphere is to always be the smarter fighter and not take unnecessary chances,” Chico said.

In the evening’s main event, exciting southern California natives Ronny Rios (22-0, 10 KOs) of Santa Ana faces Andrew “Chango” Cancio (15-2-2, 11 KOs) of Blythe in a 10-round junior lightweight bout. In the co-main, speedy southpaw Julian Ramirez (10-0, 6 KOs) of East Los Angeles faces rugged veteran Carlos Rodriguez (22-13-3, 10 KOs) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa in an eight-round featherweight showdown.
