24 year old former English Super-Lightweight Champion “Tornado” Tyler Goodjohn is the latest to put pen to paper and sign a 3 year promotional deal with Goodwin Boxing.
Goodjohn from Cambridgeshire, managed by Peter Sims and trained by Steve Whitwell has not been in the ring since losing his WBC International title to John Wayne Hibbert at the O2 in January this year. Goodjohn took some time out of the ring and contemplated retirement before moving back to Cambridgeshire and linking up with Steve Whitwell.
Goodjohn won the English title with a points win over Ricky Boylan in October 2014 and never actually lost the title in the ring.
It is a new start for Tyler who says “I’m looking forward to starting my journey with the Goodwin Team. It’s been exciting seeing them grow so quickly in the sport , I’m ready to bring belts & some memorable fights to their shows”
Goodjohn reappears on the “Night of War” show at York Hall on December 5th which features two intriguing battles for Southern Area titles Ali Adams v Dominic Akinlade (Heavyweight) and Ben Day v Ryan Taylor (Super-Lightweight). The card also has a stacked undercard including Tyler’s return in a 6 round international contest.
Steve Goodwin was delighted to sign Tyler “We have worked with Tyler before helping to re-build his career after his first loss to Danny Connor. He has a great fan bases and brings excitement to a show. With is team we are sure we can assist Tyler in getting back into the title mix but this time holding onto the titles he wins.”
