Dina Thorslund (5-0, 3 KOs) has a new opponent set for her promotional debut. The 22 year-old super bantamweight will face Sopio Putkaradze (12-5-3, 3 KOs) on March 19 at the Albertslund Muiskteatret in Copenhagen.
With twenty professional fights to her name, Putkaradze is Thorslund’s most experienced opponent and promises to be her toughest career test.
‘’She is a good boxer and I’m expecting a tough fight, but I’m confident in my own ability and I know I can win,’’ says Thorlsund. ‘’As always, I want to give the fans some excitement and deliver a performance with lots of power.’’
Thorslund was originally scheduled to face Johanna Rydberg but the Swedish boxer withdrew from their contest following the fight’s announcement.
‘’I found it quite amusing,’’’ reveals Thorslund. ‘’If you say you are going to break someone down and beat them, and then pull out of the fight, you seem a little scared.’’
Promoter Nisse Sauerland has high hopes for the Danish fighter, believing she can become World Champion within the next twelve months.
‘’After just five pro fights Dina has already shown a lot of potential, he said. ‘’I believe that this time next year she will be World Champion.’’
Thorslund agrees with her promoter’s assessment. ”I share Nisse’s belief,” she says. ‘’I think I have the talent and power to be the best in the world, and I’ll be ready to challenge for a World title soon.’’
Thorslund fights on the undercard of Micki Nielsen’s WBC International Cruiserweight title defence against former World title challenger Mirko Larghetti on March 19 at the Albertslund Musikteatret in Copenhagen. Tickets are available online via www.billetlugen.dk or by calling (+45) 70 263 267.
