Saltire Boxing are pleased to announce their next Professional Boxing Show on Saturday 28th February at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley. The Lagoon is fast becoming one of Scotland’s most popular venues for boxing and we are delighted to be back.
Topping the bill is heavyweight prospect Gary ‘The Highlander’ Cornish against a very dangerous opponent from Croatia in Marino Gomes. Gomes is nicknamed ‘The Beast from the East’ and for good reason! He has 15 KO’S from 17 wins and only 2 defeats. This is a real test for Cornish who beat Larry Olubamiwo at the Lagoon last September. This is another step up in class and we expect Gary to be in his toughest contest to date. We expect another Highland exodus to Paisley as bus loads have already booked tickets. There were nearly 300 ‘Highlander’ supporters down from Inverness in September and they are getting behind Gary again.
Chief supporting bout features Cambuslang’s Jordan McCorry defending his Scottish lightweight Title against adopted Fifer Andrejs Podusovs. Jordan makes his first defence after winning the vacant title last January, again at The Lagoon. Jordan is very proud to hold the title, especially as his trainer Peter Harrison held the same title, and won’t relinquish it without leaving everything in the ring.
The undercard features newly signed Electric Ryan Collins from Irvine, who looks forward to pushing his career forward under his new team at Saltire Boxing.
Matty ‘The Hawk’ McAllister from Aberdeen looking for a test ahead of his Scottish title challenge.
Making his professional debut is Glasgow’s Gary McGuire who is also trained by the experienced Peter Harrison.
Tickets are priced: £40 unreserved, £50 ringside and £75 VIP (includes buffet) and are available from St Andrew’s Sporting Club on 0141 810 5700 and all the boxers on the bill.
