His opponent, Nelson Ramos, is a former Texas state golden glove champion with an aggressive style. This pairing promises to make for a thrilling fight.
“It has been too long to be away from the ring. I am back and everything starts here for me. I will leave the ring with my arms raised up and ready for big fights. People who have seen me know that I have an exciting style too. I will not lose this fight,” said Ramos.
The card will also feature rising featherweight and Fort Worth, star Tony Lopez 4-0 (2 KO’s) against an opponent to be named shortly. Tony Lopez was an amateur phenom who amassed a 68-3 amateur record and is coming off a one punch knockout win Saturday night at the American Airlines arena.
“I am grateful to be back in front of my fans and thank them for their support. I have big aspirations. I want to win a state title by the end of the year and look forward to big fights here locally with a couple of other local prospects next year,”” said Lopez.
Another fighter on the card to watch for is exciting Jr. Lightweight James DeHerrera 1-0 (1 KO) of Fort Worth. In his first pro bout, the previously unheralded DeHerrera had fans talking after he knocked out local amateur standout Abraham Torres in 1:29 of the first round.
“I have really appreciated the excitement around my next fight by local fans. Some people have called me the next Edwin Valero. I believe I am very different in terms of style and personality. I do take the boxing comparisons as compliments and expectations and work too hard in the gym to let any of them or my promoter down. Standing 8 has been great to me and I appreciate them giving me the opportunity. I know that this sport is my calling in life,” said DeHerrera when asked about the recent attention. DeHerrera will square off in a 4 round contest against an opponent to be named shortly.
