NEW YORK (February 14, 2016) – One of the most respected, influential and successful boxing promoter’s in the industry, Brooklyn’s Lou DiBella, will be the special guest speaker at Tuesday night’s (17) monthly Ring 8 meeting, starting at 7 p.m. ET, at O’Neill’s Restaurant, located at 64-21 53rd Drive in Maspeth, New York.
“It’s an honor for us to have Lou as our guest speaker,” Ring 8 president Bob Duffy said. “Lou has done it all in boxing as a promoter, marketing advisor, matchmaker and television distributor. He has been a strong support of Ring 8, as well, for many years. Our members are really excited to hear Lou speak about boxing.”
A 2014 inductee into the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame, which is sponsored by Ring 8, DiBella’s name is synonymous with world championship boxing on several fronts. He enjoyed an outstanding 11-year run at HBO Sports, establishing HBO Boxing to signature programming status, as well as a ratings bonanza. HBO Pay-Per-View flourished under DiBella’s leadership, televising many of boxing most compelling fights and fighters.
In 2000, Lou launched DiBella Entertainment (DBE), a full-service sports and entertainment company. DBE has promoted some of boxing’s biggest stars, including Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez and Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor, in addition to many other world champions, top contenders, and rising stars.
DiBella is also a successful movie producer, book publisher and actor, as well as the owner of the Richmond Squirrels minor league baseball team.
