GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO- Brazilian Aldimar Silva Santos trained lightly today four days before his bout against former two time world champion Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez on Saturday, February 2 at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) presentation in association with Top Rank, to be broadcasted live and exclusively on DIRECTV Pay Per View in Puerto Rico and the United States.
Silva Santos (18-3, 9 KOs) said that he in the weight, the 128 pounds, but he made some exercices, shadows, hit the punching bag and jump the rope, all supervised by his trainer and translator Edson Nascimento.
“I’ve been train very hard for this bout. Juanma Lopez is an experienced fighter but I’m confident that I can beat him”, Silva Santos said. “There will be a good fight”.
Tha native of So Paolo will fight Juanma Lopez (31-2, 28 KOs), a former superbantamweight and featherweight champion, headlining the show in a fight scheduled to 10 rounds in 128 pounds. Lopez is actually the #5 ranked by the WBO in the featherweight division.
Former 2008 Olympian, McJoe Arroyo (11-0, 6 KOs), won’t face former IBF superflyweight champion Rodrigo “Gatito” Guerrero because the Mexican have a visa issues and can’t travel to the island. Now, McJoe will fight against veteran Felipe Rivas (14-11-1, 8 KOs), also from Mexico, for the IBF Latino superflyweight title in a fight scheduled to 10 rounds. McJoe is ranked #9 by the WBO in the superflyweight division.
Also in the show, the WBO #1 lightweight ranked and WBO Latino lightweight champion, Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez (21-0, 16 KOs), will face Alejandro “Soma” Rodriguez (18-8, 10 KOs) in a 10 round scheduled fight defending his title.
While the WBO Youth flyweight champion and WBO flyweight #12 ranked, Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez (11-0, 10 KOs) will fight against Omar Salado (23-5-2, 14 KOs) for the WBO Latino flyweight title bout scheduled to 10 rounds.
Meanwhile, 2008 Olympian and 2009 Amateur World Champion, McWilliams Arroyo (13-1, 11 KOs), the #6 WBO and #14 IBF ranked in the flyweights, will fight versus former world champion Sonny Boy Jaro (34-11-5, 24 KOs) in a bout scheduled to 10 rounds in a 113 pounds maximum. Jaro, who held the WBC flyweight title in 2012, is ranked #4 by the WBC in the flyweights.
2012 Olympian, Felix “Diamante” Verdejo (2-0, 1 KOs) will make his Puerto Rico debut when he faces Jose Santiago (2-3, 2 KOs) in a 132 pounds fight scheduled to four rounds. Verdejo is coming of a December, 2012, unanimous decision win over Leonardo Chavez in Las Vegas and a spectacular :21 seconds KO victory on January 19 in New York over Tomi Archambault.
