Christchurch, New Zealand resident Nort Beauchamp has won his biggest fight of his career in Sydney, Australia. The southpaw boxer defeated Gearoid Clancy by Unanimous decision for the World Boxing Foundation International Lightweight Title.
Beauchamp has won multiple National titles in his Amateur career, but this will be his first title in his professional career. This win now increases his record to Ten wins with two by knockout and one lose. Beauchamps only loss was against Hamilton’s Cairo George for the NZNBF and IBO Asia Pacific Welterweight title.
After his win, a potential rematch might be at talk with Cairo George. The only problem is Beauchamp is now at Lightweight and George is moving to Super Lightweight, which complicates things on which weight to fight on. George is currently recovering after his second broken hand that he received in his last bout, however he is looking to get back into the ring in November.
As for the New South Wales State Champion Gearoid Clancy, he is scheduled to fight again in October against an opponent that’s still to be announced. It is unsure when Nort Beauchamp will fight next, however there is hope that he will be on the Joseph Parker vs Solomon Haumono undercard later this month, in his hometown Christchurch.
