Saturday night saw MGM veteran McDonagh secure victory in Kent, UK against Croatian Zoran Cvek; he clinched a final round KO.
This was his first fight after his Irish title win and his first fight since changing to trainer Danny Vaughan. “I´d like to thank Seamus for all he has done with me; it was special as I was his first champion and the MGM´s first champion but now I´m with Danny I feel I´m working well with him” McDonagh explains.
It´s early days but McDonagh thinks it´s the beginning of good things to come, “ if I can get a 6 round KO in 5 weeks, let´s see where we will be in 6 months. I want a big title soon with the backing of my manager and the team at MGM.”
Vaughan was happy with how things went, “The fight went to plan” he said “Peter boxed behind the jab nice and was landing body punches from the first round and was hurting his opponent.”
“He took my advice to keeping landing the body shots and eventually he would knock him out, and he did, with a left hook to the body, his first KO for 9 years!”
McDonagh continues to work on his dream; the Cinderella man opens another chapter.
