World ranked flyweight McWilliams Arroyo will face former world champion Ramon Garcia Hirales in one of the TV battles of “The War”, the show headlined by the world title bout between Orlando “Siri” Salido and Roman “Rocky” Martinez, on April 11, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) in association with Zanfer Promotions, which will be broadcast on “Pay Per View” in Puerto Rico, United States and Canada on all Cable TV and Satellite systems..
This new Puerto Rico vs Mexico clash between Arroyo and Garcia Hirales will be for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Latino flyweight (112 pounds) title scheduled to 10 rounds.
“We were in talks to fight McWilliams on the card and got this good bout against Ramon Garcia Hirales, a former world champion who comes looking for his place at 112 pounds. Plus, we have another classic confrontation between a Mexican and a Puerto Rican, which is always exciting,” said Peter Rivera, vice president of PRBBP.
Arroyo (15-2, 13 KOs), who is ranked #11 by the WBO and number five by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) at 112 pounds, coming off a close split decision loss last September 10 in Thailand when he challenged the IBF flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng, whom he dropped in the sixth round. The Puerto Rican is a gold medalist at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia, gold at the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil and gold at the 2009 AIBA World Boxing Championships in Italy, and also represented Puerto Rico at the 2008 Olympic Games in China.
While Garcia Hirales (20-5-1, 12 KOs) is a former WBO junior flyweight champion who is currently ranked #9 by the IBF in the junior flyweight division. Like Arroyo, the Mexican lost by decision in September, 2014, against his countryman Javier Mendoza when they fought for the vacant IBF belt at 108 pounds.
“The War” has Siri Salido (42-12-2, 29 KOs) defending his WBO junior lightweight belt versus former two time champion Rocky Martinez (28-2-2, 17 KOs) as the main event. Also contenders José “Chelo” Gonzalez (23-1, 18 KOs) and Sharif Bogere (26-1, 18 KOs) will face for the vacant WBO Intercontinetal lightweight title.
“The War” between Salido and Martinez will be broadcast on “Pay Per View” at $39.95 for Puerto Rico, United States and Canada on all Cable TV and Satellite systems.
