Main Event Announced for Pro Boxing’s Return to New Bedford

Boston Boxing Promotions has announced a six-round super welterweight fight for November 12th in New Bedford as The Whaling City’s own Briam “Bam Bam” Granado takes on Madison, Maine’s Zenon Herrera in a featured attraction.

The wildly popular Granado will be fighting for the first time in over a year and for the first time ever in his hometown. This fight will also mark his first foray into six-round fights after his previous three contests being scheduled for the preliminary four-round limit.

“I’m honored to be fighting a Marine,” said Granado, “I feel good about my training and my return back to the ring after not fighting in 12 months. I’m confident about my new weight class and I look forward to fighting at 150 pounds. Where there’s a will there’s a way.”

Granado began his career in 2015 with a 1st round TKO over Providence’s Theo Desjardin. His lone loss came to then unbeaten Freddy Sanchez of Worcester, MA and he capped off the year with a hard fought draw with Salem’s Matt Doherty – who would go on to challenge for the New England lightweight title.

Zenon Herrera is a proud veteran of the United States Marines and a veteran of both the boxing ring and MMA cage. In his most recent boxing match, he lost a decision to the vastly more experienced 9-7-1, 6 KO John Webster in Lewiston, Maine.

“Briam Granado is one of those guys that you just know is gonna go the distance,” said Herrera, “he’s had some tough matches and always looks ready to go. It’s always an awesome thing to step into either the ring or cage with that type of person. Fighting outside of Maine is a great chance to show what it is that us ‘Maine-iacs’ can do. It also gives me much more motivation to go out and give it all I’ve got since I’m not only representing myself and my sponsors, but I’m representing Maine as well. My last boxing match with Webster showed me that I can go into the ring with someone who has years of experience over me and still stand toe to toe with him. He gave my his best shots and I kept coming at him. It’s gonna take a lot to keep me down. I don’t think Granado will be able to do it. With that said I hope the fans are gonna be ready for an awesome match, because this Marine is ready to go to war.”
