Huck to leave Sauerland – Klitschko in his sight

Marco Huck (38-2-1, 26 KOs) will take on future challenges independently. The current WBO-Champion announced on Wednesday, that he will not be renewing his current contract with Sauerland Event, which ends on December 31. Instead the newly founded company Huck Sports Promotion in cooperation with UFA Sports will manage all promotional aspects of his future fights.

“The days when promoters had long lasting deals with German TV broadcasters are over”, explained the 29-year old. “TV Stations have become more selective when it comes to deciding which fights they want to air. The attraction of the main fight, meaning the names of the two opponents, will be the decisive factors. Therefore the promoter I am signed with is not as important anymore as it used to be.”

The champion has already decided on who will take care of branding and marketing of his future bouts. “The UFA Sports team headed by Philip Cordes and Karsten Mahlmann has proven in the past that they are more than capable of staging big fight nights. I am convinced that currently this is the best constellation for my career and my financial interests.”

Of course the number one cruiserweight of the world has already thought of new challenges ahead. “Denis Lebedev (WBA) and Grigory Drodz (WBC) would be attractive opponents as well as the winner of Bellew vs. Cleverly”, said Huck.

“But obviously the heavyweight division is in the back of my mind and ultimately I want to take on Wladimir Klitschko for the heavyweight crown.”
