Simon Henriksson (3-0, 1 KO) and Johanna Rydberg (3-0, 1 KO) have been added to the undercard for Erik Skoglund’s historic IBF Intercontinental Light Heavyweight title defence against Oleksandr Cherviak on September 19.
The Swedish fighters, who are both trained and managed by former WBO World Middleweight Champion Armand Krajnc, are looking forward to showcasing their skills against tough international opposition at the Rosvalla Stora Ishallen at the Nyköpings Arenor in Nyköping, Sweden.
Henriksson, a 25 year-old welterweight from Ystad, faces Jakub Horvath (1-1, 1 KO). ‘’I’ve been training hard and training smart,’’ said Henriksson, who is currently undefeated after three professional contests. ‘’This is a massive opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to performing on such a big stage.
‘’I’m not worried about my opponent. I just have to focus on myself and I’m confident I will win. I’m a smart fighter. I can adapt to what my opponent is doing and come up with a winning strategy. It will be no different on September 19.’’
‘’I’ve known Simon for years, ever since he came to my gym as an amateur,’’ said Krajnc. ‘He is learning and improving all the time, and gaining valuable experience as a pro. Already, he is a great showman and is proving very popular with the fans.’’
Rydberg, a former Swedish, Nordic and European Muay Thai Champion, brings a wealth of experience from her martial arts background into the boxing ring. In Nyköping, the 33 year-old from Ramlösa aims to prove she is ready for the big time when she battles Russian flyweight Evgeniya Zablotskaya (8-11, 3 KOs).
‘’I may have only have three pro fights but I’ve had over forty Muay Thai fights,’’ said Rydberg. ‘’I’m a four-time Swedish Champion, three-time Nordic Champion and two-time European Champion. This experience will help fast track my boxing career as I’m used to being in the ring and preforming in front of a crowd. Now, all my focus is on boxing, and it’s no secret that I want to fight for titles and I want to be the best!’’
Krajnc has high-hopes for his 33 year-old protégé, expecting her to follow in his footsteps and claim boxing’s biggest prize. ‘’Johanna is a world class fighters,’’ said Krajnc. ‘’And I’m not afraid to say that. She can go all the way!

Henriksson and Rydberg join a star-studded Swedish line up on September 19 featuring Erik Skoglund’s IBF Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Championship fight with Oleskandr Cherviak, Klara Svensson’s rematch with Lucia Morelli, Anthony Yigit’s crunch light welterweight clash versus Chaquib Fadli, Otto Wallin’s heavyweight showdown with Vladimir Goncharov, Sven Fornling battle with Norwegian rival Simen Smaadal and amateur star Hampus Henriksson’s professional debut.
